About Kimberlin…
Therapy for perfectionism, burnout, and anxiety in San Diego
You might be the person others count on. You show up, get things done, and try to do things right. But behind the scenes, you may be overthinking conversations, second-guessing yourself, struggling to set boundaries, or feeling guilty whenever you slow down.
Maybe you have a hard time saying no, feel responsible for keeping everyone happy, or wonder why you still don't feel good enough despite everything you've accomplished.
If any of this sounds familiar, you're not alone.
I'm Kimberlin Sanchez, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist offering in-person therapy in La Mesa, San Diego, and virtual therapy throughout California. I work with adults who are navigating perfectionism, anxiety, burnout, self-esteem challenges, and the pressure to keep everything together.
My goal is to help you feel more at ease with yourself, build confidence in your decisions, and create a life that feels sustainable—not just one where you're constantly trying to keep up.
My approach to therapy
I believe therapy should be a place where you can show up as you are, without worrying about being judged or having all the right words. You don't need to have everything figured out before you begin.
My approach is person-centered, collaborative, and practical. I'm interested in understanding who you are, the experiences that have shaped you, the patterns that may no longer be serving you, and what you want your life to look like moving forward.
Together, we'll explore what's contributing to your stress and identify tools that make a difference in your everyday life. Depending on your needs, our work may incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based strategies, self-compassion, and practical skills for managing emotions, strengthening communication, and setting boundaries.
Therapy isn't about changing who you are or asking you to do more. It's about understanding yourself more deeply and finding ways to move through life with greater confidence, flexibility, and self-trust.
Areas I support
I work with adults experiencing challenges such as:
Perfectionism and self-doubt: Feeling like nothing you do is ever quite enough, fearing mistakes, or constantly second-guessing yourself.
Anxiety and overthinking: Struggling to quiet your mind, anticipating the worst, or feeling like you always need to be prepared.
Burnout and work-related stress: Feeling emotionally exhausted, having difficulty switching off after work, or struggling to balance your responsibilities with your own needs.
People-pleasing and boundaries: Saying yes when you want to say no, feeling responsible for others' emotions, or experiencing guilt when you prioritize yourself.
Self-esteem and confidence: Learning to recognize your worth beyond your productivity, accomplishments, or ability to meet other people's expectations.
Attention and executive functioning challenges: Developing practical strategies for organization, motivation, task initiation, and managing everyday responsibilities.
Autism-informed support: Exploring your individual needs, experiences, and coping strategies in a space that respects neurodiversity.
Our work will be tailored to you, your experiences, and the changes you want to make.
A little about my experience
I've worked with children, adolescents, and adults across a variety of settings, including community-based agencies, concierge counseling services, juvenile hall, and charter schools. These experiences have shaped my understanding of how our environments, relationships, and life experiences influence our mental health.
While my clinical background spans a wide range of ages and needs, my current focus is supporting adults as they navigate anxiety, perfectionism, self-esteem, and the pressures of everyday life.
I bring curiosity, compassion, and a practical perspective to our work. I want you to feel understood in our sessions and leave with insights and strategies you can use outside the therapy room, too.
What to expect when starting therapy
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you're used to handling things on your own. You don't need to know exactly what to say or have a clear plan for what needs to change.
We can start with what's been weighing on you lately, what feels difficult, or what you wish were different. From there, we'll work together to identify your goals and find an approach that feels helpful and manageable.
I offer in-person therapy in La Mesa, San Diego, as well as virtual therapy throughout California. Whether we meet in the office or through a screen, my intention is to create a supportive space where you can be honest, feel understood, and work toward meaningful change.
You deserve support, too.
If you're ready to explore whether therapy might be a good fit, I invite you to schedule a free 15-minute consultation. It's an opportunity to ask questions, share a little about what you're looking for, and see how it feels to connect.
